Henry's BikeRide for NoLimits!

On September 23rd, I will be biking 3,200 miles from Jersey City, NJ to Culver City, CA where the No Limits organization is based in! No Limits is a non-profit organization that provides after-school services and theater programs for children with hearing loss and their families. Along this journey I will be passing through many states including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California. There are 36 stops along the way and my goal is to finish the trip in 50 days but no worries if I don't!
Biking across the United States has been one of my life goals and I've decided that now is the best time to go after it.
I was born with a severe to profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss and wore hearing aids from when I was 2 to 15. I received a cochlear implant for my right ear at age 15 and an implant for my left ear at age 21. I first discovered No Limits at age 9 where they had reached out to NJ to do a theater production for kids with hearing loss. I ended up loving it so much that I would continue to do these productions in NJ and NY such as Timeless Journey, Building Blocks, Mission: Possible and Belive it or Not! It was an unbelievably positive environment that instilled confidence and self-belief in speaking in front of others. I would return at age 19 to perform in a reunion production as well as this past summer at age 23 in Silent No More, a collection of indivudals with hearing loss sharing their stories of the experience of being deaf and/or having hearing loss.
I recently got my Masters in Secondary Education from Lehigh University. At Lehigh University, I was constantly sharing with others the experience of having a hearing loss and how it shapes my identity, and the way I do things. Being in No Limits as well as the encouragement and support of my family helped me to become the advocate I am today. I am fiercely dedicated to the cause of No Limits and wish to give other kids with hearing loss the same experience I had.
I will be undergoing this ride alone but not without the help of many along the way! I have done a 95 mile single day bike ride before and am confident in my physical condition to handle this trip. I will be constantly updating a blog along the way with videos, pictures and more!
This Bike Ride is dedicated to No Limits and kids with hearing loss. Their cause is my proof. Please help to support this wonderful organization and cause, as well as support my adventure across the states.
