I need your help now more than ever. I tell my friends and family members that i am going to school for acting, and I immediately get judged. Unfortunately we live in a society where the career of an artist isn't taken seriously. We assume that the only way to be successful is through being in a high budget hollywood film, or a broadway musical. But what the average person does not know is that there are so many more opportunities out there for all types of artists. At this specific college I am learning to train my voice, speech, body, movement, and technique. All of which come in handy when going out there onto the professional world. I take what I do very seriously, and would love to continue to grow with the training at this school, so that i can someday show you all FULLY all that i have to give to this world as an artist.

I am currently working three jobs to help pay it off. My current income is 790 weekly, and have already paid off $8173 from the last semester. I have tried applying for loans but am in need of a cosigner. Since i can't find one, raising the money myself is my only choice. I am LITERALLY on my own. I do plan to find a job but need to find one that works with this schedule. We haven't recieved an updated one yet but the schedules usually stay the same.
Why Go to College for Acting?
When I first started acting in high school, I did it to get away from the real world, my life. I hated everything about my life. I hated being poor, not having the money for anything, moving to a new home every month, cause we couldn't afford anything. I was doing terribly in school, and had nothing going for me. But my mom taught me to wear a smile. To give the allusion of happiness. And it helped me feel better, because then I could pretend to be ok, and people would believe it. And in my head I had to then play that role. I ran for president, tried to play a sport, took french, and joined theatre. That was my way of playing that role of the "happy", "successful" boy, to then come home to nothing. Where reality would come back at me like a ton of bricks. And maybe "acting" around my friends and putting on a mask was wrong but it was my way of being happy. I thought I could do that my whole life, even on stage, and I came to Suny Purchase's Professional Acting Program with that mask, later realizing that it wasn't needed. This program allowed me to see and realize that everything behind the mask that I was wearing was what made me beautiful, smart, and wise. And if I had gone out into the industry with the plan of hiding myself behind a mask, I would only be just another "method actor", and probably have a miserable life. I know that if i want to learn to be honest, and truthful on the stage, I have to have technique. And get training from the best of the best.
