Hello, my name is Donna Thompson. I have been a professional land surveyor for most of my adult life. I thought I was pretty healthy person until the last few years.
I have a lot of medical problems. In December of 2012 I fell and broke several of the vertabrae in my neck, broke my arm at the shoulder, my right leg/ankle and dislocated my shoulder. Well they put me back together again, but I can't walk. My left leg was paralyzed. I went back for more surgery in 2015 and got my lower back worked on, but have been unable to walk yet. They also found a small lump in my lung, which has turned into cancer. I have had two operations in 2016 to remove parts of my right lung.
If you can imagine I am still paying on medical bills from 2012, so these more recent ones are being paid more slowly, if at all.
I qualified for motorized wheelchair back in 2014, but was unable to find one that fit me and that I could get through my small mobile home. Oh yes, my house burned down in 2004 and I am living in a 20+ year old mobile home.
I've been able to find some wheelchairs that fit me on-line, but Medicare won't pay for them.
The picture I have attached is from a while ago. I don't look near that good now, pain and deppression age you fast.
I'm not sure that I will ever be able to walk again, but I want to keep on trying. It is just so depressing to see things keep going down hill.
I'd like to pay off what I still owe in medical bills, buy a new wheelchair and if I have two or three thousand dollars left over maybe I can put a down payment on a newer more open plan mobile home that I can manouver my wheelchair through.
If there was any way I could afford it, I would like to go to a rehabilitation hospital, maybe they could help me walk again.
I can't say if my cancer will stay in remission, but I think the odds are better if I am not depressed and can stay upbeat. Hard thing to do when you can't pay your bills and you can't walk. Please help me. Even if you can't donate $5, pray for me.
