Michael Wallace (aka Don Mykel) is an up-and-coming rap artist from Harlem. He recently received an invitation to participate in the second round of Team Backpack’s Rap 2015 Cypher in Los Angeles, California.

Michael is driven and inspired by his environment and life, which enables him to create music that many can relate to, regardless of their individual backgrounds. He has created two mixtapes and a handful of music videos to date. His biggest break came in April 2014 when he was the opening act for a concert for fellow Harlem rapper A$AP Ferg. Michael is also the co-founder of the underground label, Empire The Nation Records.

Michael sees the Team Backpack challenge as his chance to prove himself as a passionate rapper success as far as accomplishing goals of an artist looking to boost their careers.

In addition to being a rap artist Michael is pursuing a degree in Business Management at SUNY Canton. The knowledge he has obtained in college has helped him to grow and run the record label he co-founded. Balancing his studies, rap career and a record label is no simple task. Michael has funded his success on a meager college student’s income. He now needs additional support from fans and fellow artists so he can compete in Los Angeles.
