UPDATES: In addition to digging in India, I have been honored with the opportunity to do an internship in Oman! I will be working at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bat, Oman excavating domestic dwellings to learn more about the people there and help preserve the heritage of the Omani people.
I am therefore combining the costs of the two excavations for this fundraiser.
The money I need:
I estimate the cost of excursions, meals, and shopping in India to cost about $2000.
I estimate the cost of excursions, meals, and shopping in Oman to cost about $3000.
Round trip US to India is about $2000
Round trip India to Oman $500
Within India I could spend upwards of $400 to get from Mumbai to Udaipur and back.

$500 in STAR Scholarship
$600 from a grant that my professor received for this project.
$2000 in Global Learning Scholarship
Room and board are covered in Oman
Room and board are partially covered in India.

I want to explore the past and help other people learn about their own past by learning and preserving as much as possible. This is why the Ahar Banas complex is of particular interest to me. There are people who are still occupying the same sites that people lived at thousands of years ago!
I am still learning a lot about Bat, Oman. I do know that they are working with a lot of the Omani people to make it theirs and to share the history of Oman with the people there. For it to be a UNESCO world heritage site means that it truly means a lot to everyone in the world, not just the Omani people.
