Kelsey Zionskowski's Fund

Kelsey Zionskowski is a 25 year old resident of Milwaukie, Oregon. She has a 5 year old son and is engaged to his father. She has been attending nursing school with hopes to be a registered nurse. Kelsey graduated from Rex Putnam High School in Milwaukie. She previously attended Oregon State University, where she met her now fiancé.

Kelsey is bright, funny, and resilient. She is incredibly kind and down to earth. She loves music and her family.

On August 5, 2014, Kelsey was walking home from a bus stop after work. She was returning from her second day at a new job at OHSU.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. a car ran onto the sidewalk where she was standing, struck her, and sandwiched her into a pole. It is still unclear who or what caused the driver to lose control.

Kelsey was taken to OHSU for life-threatening injuries. When she arrived, her condition was considered grave and it was not clear whether she would survive the accident. A little over a week later, Kelsey’s condition has gone from grave to critical to serious.

Kelsey has undergone 10+ surgeries on many of her vital organs (including her heart) and limbs. Unfortunately, the damage to one of her legs was so severe that the doctors had to amputate it at her hip. Her other leg suffered serious tissue damage as well. The doctors expect Kelsey to be in a wheelchair for at least a year.

We are so thankful that Kelsey is a fighter and alive, but she has a long road of recovery ahead of her. We are hoping to raise funds to ease the burden of the medical costs, physical therapy costs, living expenses, and the costs associated with the life changing event of losing a leg.

Any and all donations are welcome and appreciated! Let’s help this beautiful young woman recover, both emotionally and physically, from this catastrophic event and celebrate her fortitude and life!

Hello,

I am one of Kelsey's cousins. We live in California and wanted to do what we could to help so we started this page for Kelsey.  Please feel free to share our page.  We want to make sure that Kelsey is focused on her recovery and rehabilitation and not burdened by the outside stresses monetary expenses can cause. Thanks so much for helping spread the word about our page and for your donations! Every bit will help!
