Hello! My name is Elizabeth, and I'm a 31 year old mother of two (cats) and a wife to the most amazing, nerdy, artistic, patient man there is.
When I did what a lot of high school grads do (go directly to college, do not pass go, do not collect $200) I was woefully unequipped for what I was taking on. You see, no one prepares you for a room mate that is into hard drugs, or family problems (bankruptcy, losing my childhood home, being called home to help pack and move on short notice, and other traumatic personal and family upheavals). No one says "this isn't just about going to classes and making the grade". High school does not adequately prepare anyone for college, which I think most of us know by now.
Now I know these things. Now, after ten years, I understand what it takes to make it through college and when you're having difficulty there are programs in place to assist you. I know that the college wants you to succeed as much as you do. However, there's one small hitch in my plans... my old university somehow messed up my FAFSA paperwork, leaving me with a three thousand dollar bill that I just can't afford.
My plan is this; hopefully, through your generosity, I will be able to pay off my old debt and start fresh. I would like to go into the science field, specifically ecology. After my old debt is paid off, I will be starting part time at a local community college and working up to being a full time student. I'll be taking basic classes to fill General Education requirements to start, and will be applying for as many grants and scholarships as I can. I'm an essay writing, online form filling machine. If I somehow make more than my goal, it will be going towards books, class supplies, application fees, and tuition.
