Los Alamos Posse Lodge Kitchen
Donation protected
The Los Alamos Sheriff's Posse Lodge needs to upgrade its kitchen in order to continue receiving permits from the New Mexico Environment Department for the monthly Cowboy Breakfasts. The biggest cost of the kitchen upgrade will be in replacing old consumer-grade equipment with NSF rated equipment. We also have to add a hood over the griddles.
Items to be added or replaced include:
- Full size refrigerator
- Refrigerator/freezer combo
- Small chest freezer
- Bacon griddle
- 3-position steam table
- On-demand hot water heater
- Larger 3-compartment sink
The Los Alamos Sheriff's Posse is a 501c3 organization dedicated to preserving the Posse Lodge (built in 1958) and helping other local non-profits through the proceeds of the monthly Cowboy Breakfasts. Six of the breakfasts pay the Lodge bills and maintenance but 100% of the proceeds from the other 6 are given to specific local non-profit groups. The groups participate in the success of their breakfasts, doing much of the advertising and providing the bulk of the volunteer crew that cooks, serves, and cleans. We have around 300 people at each breakfast and non-profits generally receive an average of about $1500 from their breakfast. The Posse also rents the Lodge out for public and private events throughout the year. Many people take advantage of the availability of our rustic and historic building for parties, meetings, dances, and weddings. Multiple generations of locals have memories of these kind of events at the Lodge.
The Los Alamos Sheriff's Posse is a homegrown volunteer group with no ties to any other national organizations. We keep the Lodge open because we feel that it is important to perserve and to use for the benefit of other charities.
