Tofu's Emergency Surgery

Today during a trip to the vet I found out that my cat Tofu would have to undergo surgery due to a blockage in his bladder that is causing him extreme pain and discomfort. The operation is not as simple as fixing a broken leg, requiring various medical tests prior to any action is taken, and also having a period of rehabilitation and monitoring afterwards to make sure that the problem does not persist, and that no new issues appear.

I was given an estimate of 2049.30, which will increase if complications arise. There is also a chance that Tofu will require further operations afterwards, which will cost a few thousand more. For now I'm trying to deal with the immediate issue; my roommate and I have taken out a loan to use as a downpayment. 

The only altenative to this operation is euthanasia which I of course want to avoid at all costs.

I've never really asked for help on such a large scale before, but I'm currently struggling with financial issues and am already barely making my living expenses, not to mention my tuition. At this time I don't really know what to do, but I don't want to lose my friend so I am asking for your help. Anything you could possibly offer would be greatly appreciated.
