Rachel Padgett Funeral Expense

On Wednesday, August 20th Rachel Padgett was taken from us far too soon. Rachel had fought valiantly for many years hoping to become healthy enough for a liver transplant. Unfortunately that was not to be, Rachel passed away in her sleep from a massive brain aneurism. Due to years of little to no help from the VA or VA Doctors, continued financial hardships, and the declining health of both Richard and Rachel, the family had no life insurance and is struggling to pay the $6,000 cost of a basic funeral.
As my Aunt, Rachel holds a very special place in my heart. Anyone who knew Rachel can not deny she was force to be reckoned with. As my cousin Jeff said so perfectly “Aunt Rachel had a temper that could knock down building”. But when she loved, she loved deeply and with fierce loyalty. Her heart was as big as the elephants she loved so dearly. She was humble and strong simultaneously. When you were with her you always knew you were safe, loved, you would definitely be fed, and if you needed something Aunt Rachel was going to find a way for you have it.
Rachel’s loyalty did not end with her family. If you were Rachel’s friend you were family. Rachel was the type of friend who would not just stand beside in the storm but stand in front of you to protect you from it. Through good times, through bad times, and everything in between she was stead fast and true.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Richard Padgett, a retired Navy Veteran who is battling his 3rd round of cancer, who is also a stroke and heart attack survivor. Rachel is also survived by her son Paul David Padgett, also a Navy Veteran and single father of four, her daughter Elizabeth Padgett, and 5 grandchildren.
