SOGAA is a non-profit social / service organization founded in Baltimore for Black men who love men which is dedicated to promoting unity in the community. 

SOGAA Inc. created the Baltimore International Black Film Festival in the city of Baltimore to highlight films produced, directed and starring African Americans, members of the African Diaspora and the Same Gender Loving - lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (SGL-LGBT) community. Our mission is to use the artistry of filmmaking to educate, enlighten and inspire the community while creating a vehicle to promote unity. The Baltimore International Black Film Festival serves a dual purpose of providing a venue for independent films, panels and workshops to entertain/educate the greater Baltimore area through a uniqely diverse cinematic experience.

Funds will be used to:

1) Continue SOGAA Inc.  ongoing support of two charitable organizations Movable Feasts and Bea Gaddy Family Center in the City of Baltimore

2) Rent local theatres and venues for 5-day long festival

3) Licensing and promotional fees for films in the festival

4) limited travel/hotel expenses for guest filmmakers and film festival participants

5) Advertising, marketing, ticketing and staffing of 5-day long film festival

Mission and Objective

The Baltimore International Black Film Festival (BIBFF) promotes and celebrates culturally significant films directed, produced, and staring African American and members of the African Diaspora. We also prominently feature and celebrate films with content of interest to the Same Gender Loving – Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (SGL-LGBT) community. Our mission is to couple the film festival with education, health and exhibition programs that enrich the life of Baltimore City and greater Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia community.

 
More About the Festival

With its unique paring of films by African-American, the African Diaspora and members of the Same Gender Loving – Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (SGL-LGBT) community, the Baltimore International Black Film Festival (BIBFF) serves a dual purpose of providing a venue for independent films for, by and about African Americans, the African Diaspora and members the SGL-LGBT community locally, nationally and globally. The 2nd Annual BIBFF will be held at the historic Charles Theatre on October 8-12, 2015.  The Charles Theatre, the only theatre of its kind in Baltimore, with its 1150-seat, 23,000 square-foot movie house is located in one of Charles Street’s most historic buildings and is only minutes away for the Baltimore Harbor in addition to numerous restaurants, bars, museums and attractions. BIBFF is truly a “Charm City” event blending entertainment and education in the greater Baltimore area through a uniquely diverse cinematic experience.
