----------------------------------------------------------------------

As a longstanding community garden in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Demmler has been fortunate to have many interested gardeners passing through it for many years now. With new coordination by Kate Beaton, Laura Lash, and Aaron Salmon; we are looking to launch the garden into a new phase of operation.

This year, despite each gardener putting up their own fencing, we lost too much of our harvest to rabbits and deer. We'd like to solve that with a permenant deer and rabbit proof fence surrounding the garden.   Permenant fencing will also allow us to focus on the layout and walkways inside.  Splitting up our 20x20 plots into smaller, more manageable raised beds, adding a shed for communal tools and a pollinator garden nearby, the garden can be transformed from a hobby space into a fully-functioning eco space.

Even if you do not garden in the space, beautification of this garden adjacent to our beloved Demmler Playground and Park can bring conversation points and aesthetic beauty to those who pass through. Won't you help us to improve and beautify?

To protect and improve our crop, we need to install and deer and rabbit proof fence. This will be akin to the city-approved fencing currently at the Lakeshore and Southside Gardens. Kate and Laura worked with their garden coordinators to determine the cost, plan and materials needed for our new fence construction.

Bringing in a low outdoor-locker type shed will house our shared tools and wheelbarrow so gardeners of any level and expertise will have what they need to sow without bringing tools frome home each time they tend to their plots.

Adding low raised beds will help to delineate each gardeners space with overusing wire fencing - this too will increase our look and shared space.  We can develop pathways and build on them each year instead of starting over from scratch every spring.

Lastly, we are aiming to build a comprehensive plan to take-over the banner beds of invasives and weeds that we currently have and transform them into pollinator gardens. This is good for the whole community!

Please help us reach our goal! We've worked with the City of Eau Claire to obtain the approvals needed and are ready to begin!

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to the Third Ward Neighborhood Association, earmarked for the Demmler Community garden projects outlined above.

Thank you!
