Happy Tails! PCT Fundraiser

Donation protected
In April, I will be venturing to the Mexico/Ca Border and will be setting off on a 2660 mile journey to Canada. It will be a terrifying, but exciting, once in  a life time experience. I will also be raising money for Best Friends Animal Society and promoting pet rescue and that dogs make the best adventure partners. Along the way I will be hostinf day hikes and partnering with local shelters to bring pups on trail.

20 years ago was my first time at Camp Olson YMCA and 4 years later was Lyndsay's. However we did not meet until we were both on staff at age 16. Just the year before, in the Counselor in Training Prgoram, I took my first backpacking trip and it changed my life. From there we worked together for the next few summers and Co-Directed the Riding Program. I eventually talked Lyndsay into transfering schools and moving in with me to attend the University of Minnesota - Duluth.

Now that we are both graduated, it is time for the next steps in our lives. I am currently living in Utah working at  a non-profit after school program for youth in the foster system and with disabilities. Lyndsay is having adventures of her own in Thailand, which means I will be setting out solo - but the more support we get - the more likely I can convince her to come hike the OR section with me :)

We will be venturing the 2660 miles for the first time, and will experience a number of triumphs, pitfalls, excitement, and fear. Not to mention 20+ miles a day under our feet. It will be a journey of a life time, and a number of things could go wrong, and that's why we are preparing now. As I am sure you are a well aware, gear, travel, and food is expensive. College loans, trips cross country, and non-profit salary unfortunatly do not provide a very good pocketbook to fund this trip.

I will be resigining from my job right before the trip, which also hurts the piggy bank. Upon my return, I will be starting graduate school to recieve my Masters in Professional Counseling. Thankfully our admiration for the outdoors provides us with some essentials we have equipped from prior adentures (though not the most ultralight), but even with dehydrating our own food - it will be costly.

This trip is not just for us. We are teaming up with Best Friends Animal Society, RuffWear, and local shelters to raise money and awareness for pet resuce! We want to encourage people to adopt before going to a breeder. There are way to many animals in shelters that deserve a loving home. These pets also make the best adventure partners - which we also want to promote. Along the way we will try to raise awareness and money for local shelters as well as hosting local day and overnight hikes with local shelters and pet parents.

Any support that can be provided will be greatly appreciated and really help us out in reaching our goal.

Please also consider donating to my fundraiser for BF.
And follow my Ruff Trails, HappyTails blog - will have updates from trail, event info and more!

This Go Fund Me, is to help me get from point A to B financially, but the animals really need more support to find forever homes.
