What happened? On Saturday, July 25 the unthinkable happened. Delwynn, 28 and Dakota Patterson, 2 months, were in a car accident. Delwynn lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree. Dakota suffered from a broken leg and minimal brain bleeding and Delwynn suffered extreme injuries that unfortunately still have him in the hospital ICU. The morning of the accident, Delwynn underwent 9 surgeries and has been fighting for his life ever since. Thankfully, baby Dakota is doing better but notably misses her daddy.
About Delwynn: Delwynn hands down is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. Delwynn has never met a stranger and because of that, people are instantly drawn to him. Delwynn is the youngest of 4 and is notably the little brother. Delwynn argues about sports with his dad and often snuggles with his mom; family is everything to him. Dewlynn has a passion for baseball, children, his family and his girlfriend and daughter. Delwynn coaches both 12 years and younger and high school baseball; he has yet to miss a practice or game for either team. Delwynn literally changes the children that he coaches for the better. The birth of his daughter, Dakota, was an apparent milestone for him; she literally became the focal point of his existence. The desire to protect his daughter and provide for her were so evident, at times, the baby would have to be pried out of his arms!
What I am asking for: Delwynn is a hard worker; he worked multiple jobs to ensure the comfort and stability of Chanelle and Dakota. Delwynn assisted Chanelle monetarily with their combined household bills on top of Dakota’s baby supplies. Chanelle is coming off of maternity leave and was supported heavily by Delwynn while she got back on her feet financially. At this time, Chanelle has taken on the financial responsibilities of their household. Any monetary donation that can go towards paying the medical bills of Delwynn and Dakota and living expenses would be helpful. Delwynn is still undergoing procedures and is under heavy sedation. Delwynn’s medical expenses thus far are exponential and growing. Any amount helps.
Who am I: My name is Leah Williams and I created this fund for my best friend, more so sister, Chanelle. I have grown up with Chanelle and have known her for 15 years. I am Dakota’s Godmother and have the pleasure of being a member of Delwynn and Chanelle’s extended family. I have witnessed Delwynn make Chanelle a stronger, more focused and driven woman. Delwynn changed my sister for the better and I am forever grateful for him. He is an amazing Father to Dakota and I can only wish the Father of my child will look at his child as Delwynn does. I respect Delwynn for being the man he is, being a positive inspiration to everyone that speaks to him and for being a stand-up guy. Delwynn is the epitome of a strong man that will fight for his family and provide for them by any means necessary. At this time, it is our turn to fight for Delwynn; mentally and spiritually.
