Dear friends, family and kind donors,
My name is Daniel Decarlo. I grew up in Port Jervis, NY where I started my wrestling career. I am now a proud member of the Huskies wrestling team here at the University of Southern Maine. It’s an exciting time to be a part of the wrestling program. Since the inception of the Wrestling Program at USM in 1997, USM Student Athletes have been making history almost every time we have hit the mat.
We have competed against some of the best college wrestling programs in America which includes perennial powerhouse wrestling programs within NCAA Division I, II and III such as Boston University, Harvard University, Brown University, Ithaca College, Wartburg College, Augsburg College and the University of Wisconsin. However, we face a great challenge every season because we have to raise money to compete against these teams and to have these opportunities. Because of strong individual wrestling and fundraising efforts, USM Wrestlers have competed in Iowa, Wisconsin, Florida and Las Vegas to compete against the nation’s best opponents and their teams.
In (17) years of the University of Southern Maine Wrestling program, the Huskies have had (36) NCAA All New England athletes, made (11) NCAA National Wrestling Championship appearances (3) NCAA All Americans, (10) NCAA Scholar All Americans and have had several record breaking dual meet win seasons! I plan to make it (37) NCAA All New England athletes, (12) NCAA National Wrestling Championship appearances, (4) NCAA All Americans, (11) NCAA Scholar All Americans with your help.
The USM Wrestling program and it’s student athletes have been featured in many national publications such as CBS Sports and in the Wall Street Journal, the worlds most circulated newspaper!
We are looking to continue this trend of success by competing against the nations best and I INTEND TO SEE THIS SUCCESS AS AN INDIVIDUAL!!
Next season is months away but, I am writing to you as am looking to raise $800.00 for this upcoming season. Due to our demographic area and far proximity to compete against the nation’s best college programs, we need to raise money for any competition OUTSIDE of the New England states (MA, CT, RI, NH, ME and VT) and we have to purchase all of our workout gear. Your donations will help cover expenses for:
1. Travel and hotel expenses to New York City to compete in the Grapple at the Garden at Madison Square Garden!
2. Wrestling Team Warm-ups: USM Wrestling CHAMPION Sweatshirt, USM Wrestling CHAMPION Sweatpants, USM Wrestling Loose Dri fit T-Shirt and Loose Dri-fit Shorts
3. Travel and hotel expenses to Indiana where we will be facing national powerhouse programs, Wabash College, Mt. Union College, Ohio Northern University and the University of Wisconsin!
