Danger-prone Dachshund's Fund

My first baby was born December 7, 2000.  He was a bouncing baby dachshund.  My husband let me take him home for Valentine’s Day.  We had a good 7 years before the “accidents” started happening.  One day I woke up and found he couldn’t move his back legs.  I have never been so scared before.  I couldn’t stop crying.  He couldn’t move at all.  It was horrible to watch.  We found out after tons of money, tests, x-rays and exams that he has Intervertebral Disk Disease, or IVDD for short.  I had 24 hours to decide what to do, so we rushed him to the emergency surgeon with money we did not have.  I couldn’t think about that as he is a family member.  The cost was actually astounding.  Well over $6,000, when you add in the tests and emergency care.  A year later, he started acting funny again and I fell to pieces.  He acted the same way and was shaking this time and seemed to be paralyzed.  We found out a spider, YES, a spider bit his hind parts and it caused the same type of symptoms.  That trip was around $375.  A few months went by and his paw looked like it was going to fall off.  That trip was also around $300 or more.  A few months went by without anything extreme…until his face puffed up like something bit him.  At this point, we found out it was a tooth issues and that was well over $500 to pull the teeth, clean, medicate and get him the antibiotics he needed.  Unfortunately, he now has another problem with his teeth, and that trip was also over $400.  The vet said he would do best with special food now as he is missing erm, a few teeth.   He is need of another treatment in a few weeks and possibly another x-ray of his skull to make sure that nothing out of the ordinary is going on...and truthfully, we couldn't even afford the previous visit.  He is surrounded by people who love him, his two human sisters, and his adopted fur brother and sister, also long-haired dachshunds.  They appreciate your help because it truly does take a village for this sweet dachshund.
