"Back To the Block!" Community Event

Donation protected
Livelihood and the OneLove Foundation are partnering up to plan their first joined community event ever! Appropriately titled “Back to the Block!” Our mission is to empower low-income West Oakland residents by providing the resources to make fruits and vegetables affordable and accessible to their neighborhoods.  Our event is scheduled to take place Sunday September 27th, 2015 from 12- 5 pm; during which, our organizations will gather all of West Oakland’s resources in one place to make healthy foods accessible and affordable. Our goal is to promote health awareness and a healthy lifestyle, but also emphasize the importance of exercising healthy eating habits and the positive effects it can have on a community as a whole.

This event is open to all ages, as we are trying to impact residents and their families, in hopes that we can spread health awareness to all, especially the youth. Games including physical and artistic activities will be arranged for kids to take part in such as freeze tag, a free dance class, coloring stations, water balloon fights, etc., encouraging not only a healthy but active lifestyle. Select DJs, as well as guest speakers and poets will be on the lineup, a dance company performance, and a free show of music artists, all of which are educated and involved with spreading their knowledge on these ideas we are trying to promote. Sharing is caring! And our lineup is growing by the day!

Both of our organizations have a center focused in our community work, and we are passionate believers that we can help ourselves first by helping those around us in need. To ensure that everyone is taken care of in one way or another, we are holding a clothes drive through the whole month of September until the 27th, so that we can disperse the donations out of categorized Clothing Booths to the public, on the “Back to the Block” event day, as well as 50-100 pre-packed lunches. (Drop Off Location for Clothes Drive: 349 15th Street Oakland, CA)

All monetary donations we recieve will be used to fund our event on the 27th, and our future event expenses to make this  and many more positive events possible; which, will in return benefit the families of our Oakland neighborhoods!

Lets do something great for someone else!
