Duke's fight for life

Meet Duke, a puppy with a purpose. About a month ago I had gone to help my cousin babysit two week old purebred Australian Shepherd puppies for a weekend. I immediately fell in love with them, knowing that I wouldn't be able to actually get one I enjoyed them while I could. I was notified last week that they were going to put one to sleep that day because he has a mega esophagus, which means he can not swallow food, only liquids. I knew that it wasn't fair because he had a chance to survive, so I wanted to get him. I am part of a family of nine, which includes 3 adopted siblings, a foster brother, and the youngest suffers from SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy)....my family cannot afford this surgery, but without it Duke will die. Please help save him and give him a chance for life. The vet is hoping to do the surgery in a couple weeks so that there is no perminent damage, so there is kind of a deadline. Our hope is to not only save his life, but he is being evaluated as a possible therapy dog for my six year old sister.
