Helping My Daughter Hold On To Her Faith.

I am reaching out for prayers and support for my eldest daughter Dawn. In 2008, she was diagnosed with cancer and fought an uphill battle until being diagnosed cancer-free at the end of 2010. Unfortunately, in 2011, she was re-diagnosed, and as a result of the cancer returning, she had to have a complete hysterectomy in 2012. Her faith was shaken at the loss of the ability to have children, and even more so when she found herself struggling through a major surgical infection as a result of that surgery, which shut down her kidney's and put her into kidney decline.

Hospitalized again for a month, followed by several more months at home on home infusion, the infection tried to take the path of least resistance from her body and ruptured through her belly button, main surgical site and other areas. As a result, she has suffered through the loss, depression and now additional medical care is needed as she has developed an umbilcal hernia (pictured above) that is in need of surgical repair at is has pushed her belly button and abdominal area out, and she is now without insurance or a means to get that care.

She has already been made aware by medical staff that over time all hernias get bigger, never smaller. If left untreated hernias may reach huge proportions and may essentially contain all of the intestines and abdominal organs leaving the abdominal cavity empty and collapsed. Once this happens the situation is irreversible and the hernia cannot be fixed. Should an attempt be made to repair such a hernia and replace the organs and intestines into the abdominal cavity the result is usually lung failure. This occurs when the increased pressure within the abdominal cavity pushes the diaphragm up resulting in collapse of the lungs. Any hernia, large or small can become strangulated. In this situation a portion the intestine which is trapped within the hernia is strangled and its blood supply is cut off. Losing its blood supply the intestine becomes gangrenous and then ruptures.

With the relocation of her husand's job out of the country, and subsequent loss of medical insurance, with no money coming, and barely keeping the roof over their head as it is, she has put off this much needed surgery as the both of them desperately look for work.

God tests us all in different ways, and this has been her and her husband's struggle and I fear that her faith, which has been so battered as of late, will break without support. I have watched my daughter give everything she has to help others, including myself, and never asks for anything in return. So, it is my prayer, that you all can be that support in her time of need.

God Bless and Thank you.
