The Carroll\'s Family Fire Recovery Fund

Don protégé
Early Monday morning Cynthia and Jackie Carroll of Dundee, FL lost their home to a fire. When the fire began, everyone in the house was sleeping including their son Jackie Jr, his girlfriend Ashley, and their three children: Addisson (12 months), Bentley (2 years), and Christopher (4 years)- all who lived in the Dundee, Florida home.

Jackie woke up to the sound of crackling and noticed light coming from the bathroom. When he got up to see what the noise was, he walked up to flames shooting everywhere in the bathroom. Jackie immediately woke Cynthia up and told her to wake the others, and get out! Thankfully she did just that and nobody was hurt physically. Jackie then asked his son to quickly run around the side of the house to grab the hose, and break the bathroom window. They were able to put out the fire with the garden hose.

The fire department checked out the house and stayed for 2 to 3 hours, before instructing them to come back in the morning. Cynthia was eager to get to the house as soon as day break came, because they all had left the house without clothing, medicines, food, etc. Cynthia and Jackie drove up to ashes, literally.

The original fire was determined to be electrical which started in the bathroom. The fire department stated that the electric was turned off after the fire was put out, that night. However, it re-ignited and burnt everything they owned to ash.

The first thing you would think impulsively, is that they had insurance. In this case, they did not. Cynthia and Jackie owe $38,000 on the property, and they have been told that this is their responsibility. Think about the home you live in, and think about the things in it- material and not. This family lost it all, every single thing in it, including but certainly not limited to kitchen items, furniture, toiletries, pictures, birth certificates and forms of ID, items on the walls, clothing, etc. Even the small things you wouldn't think about such as Cynthia's partials from the dentist which are now gone, eye care, soaps and feminine products, etc.

First and foremost, the family needs a place to live. They are searching for a new place to live, but are finding that they will most likely be required to put down a deposit, at the least, to move in. They do not have those funds available and they are desperately searching for a place to bring the children home to again, and create any type of structure for their children.

The children are covered with health insurance, however Cynthia and Jackie have no coverage. They both have medical things that need immediate attention.

The family is very appreciative for anything you can give, if even a prayer, or sharing this site to others you know.

For those who do not want to donate online, they do have a PO box set up: P.O Box 1481 Dundee, FL, 33838.

The Red Cross stepped up and placed them in a hotel, gave them some money for food and clothing, and the community has been donating clothing, as well as toys. Unfortunately, the Red Cross funds will run out this coming Friday, and at this point, they have nowhere to go. The hotel they are staying at is called Economy Wilder Lodge, in Dundee Florida. It is paid until Friday but the family does not have enough money to pay beyond that and as of tonight, they have nowhere to go once Friday comes along. They will need many things other than clothing and toys, so I am asking that you please donate what you can to help them find the road to recovery. Even $1 helps. Together, we can ALL make a difference. Help lead them to what positive can come, if any is possible, from such a horrific tragedy.
