My name is Miranda, I live in Canada, and I am fundraising to help with the costs of my life saving bariatric surgery.
At my current weight of 460lbs, I am at my heaviest. In 2008 I had surgery that left me on medical bed rest for 18 months while an open wound healed. In that time, I gained a significant amount of weight, and because of my lack of movement and increased weight, I struggled to perform daily functions without experiencing pain, and continued to gain weight (roughly 150 lbs in total). After being diagnosed with numerous health issues (Type II Diabetes amongst them), and failed attempts at natural weight loss, my only option to lose weight and keep it off safely is to gete the Bariatric Sleeve (VSG surgery).
I originally applied for surgery through Canadian Health Care, but was denied the opportunity because I am too heavy. I was told I would need to lose approximately 120-140 lbs before I would even be considered as a candidate and placed on the 2 year waiting list. My only option now to get this necessary surgery is to travel to Mexico and pay out of pocket for a private surgery to be performed. I am desperately seeking any help possible from my family, friends and even kind strangers to donate and help me with the high cost of this private surgery. Although my goal is $18,000, any amount I am able to raise will greatly help.
