CTI travels to National Maker Faire

Professors Pete Talbot & Ben t. Matchstick of Cardboard Teck Instantute (CTI), Montpelier, VT just found out they were selected to present at the National Maker Faire in Washington, DC. this Friday to unveil their PinBox 3000, a customizable cardboard pinball machine.  Help them travel to DC by making a donation today.

Talbot and Matchstick have been crafting their home game system since January, when they were offered an artist's residency at the Generator Maker Space in Burlington, VT. But the idea for inventing a cardboard pinball that could be duplicated has been flipping them out for a long time.

On  Monday, June 8 they opened their inbox to find that they were selected to present their newest creation to the University of the District of Columbia to join hundreds of other inventors from around the country for the kick-off of a "Week of Making". Though Maker Faires have been happening on a state-by-state basis for many years, this event is the first to showcase makers from around the country. CTI, ten year veterans of local ephemeral arts, wants to bring VT to DC through PinBox 3000.

The Cardboard Teck Instantute's stop in DC this week is just the beginning in a long line of events planned for the PinBox 3000. Since the expenses of the DC trip came on suddenly (CTI received confirmation on Monday, and the show is Friday and Saturday), the artists are asking you to help get them with the housing and travel expenses that go along with this great opportunity.

"The DC trip will give us a boost, for sure." says Talbot. CTI is counting on its interactive, kid-friendly display to give them an edge. "We are proud to represent Vermont makers with our ability to turn trash into treasure. And we are committed to encouraging the youth of our community to improve their lives through creative play and sharing fun."

CTI is also launching a Kickstarter campaign to start production on the PinBox 3000 kits which will include curriculum for educational possibilities.
