Modern Premiere - Galuppi
Donation protected
This September I will present my doctoral recital at Michigan State University. For this recital I will be conducting the modern premiere of a work for double women's chorus and double orchestra by the 18th century composer, Baldassare Galuppi. I traveled to Venice, Italy this March and searched through three archives to find this particular work. This performance will be the first time this work has been heard since 1763. I have been working all summer to transcribe the music from manuscript form into a readable notation for today's musicians and make individual parts for all players and singers. It is an important piece of musical history just starting to be uncovered and I am excited to be able to contribute to the discovery of this music. For this, I will need to hire musicians for the two orchestras. This is no small cost, as musicians run $100 per player. With about 20 players the total cost for the orchestra players alone will be $2,000, not including the cost to print music for the orchestra and double choir...no small pocket change for a graduate student! If you are able and would like to contribute to the modern premiere of this incredible 18th century work, I would be so appreciative. All donors will be listed in the program. I would be happy to send a recording and the program of the performance if you are interested. Thank you for your generosity and considration!
