Coral Restoration Documentary

Donation protected

Once upon a time in the Caribbean Sea, the elkhorn and staghorn coral were booming, but over the last 3 decades they have become "critically endangered" on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Red list. This is due to rising water temperatures, natural disasters, and a lack of educated tourists. The Coral Restoration Foundation in Bonaire has successfully planted nurseries of corals to reproduce and repopulate the Caribbean Sea. This is an eco-tourism initiative, which very few people around the globe know anything about. Through the media of film, I want to educate viewers. A mere 1% of our entire population has seen what is beneath sea level, and have little to no understanding of human impact on what they have not seen. This documentary will allow the project to flourish and grow with the coral, educating tourists and divers on the situation at hand.

About me: I have always had a certain attraction to water. Be it a pool, lake or ocean, I've never been afraid to get my feet wet and see where it may take me. From canoe trips, to lifeguarding, teaching swimming, and most recently studying underwater skills and commercial diving at Seneca College.

Film was my first passion and career choice in life. I attended Niagara College and graduated in 2007 with an Advanced Diploma in Broadcasting and Film Production. I quickly worked my way into the camera department, working on a number of feature films, television movies, commercials, music videos, and shopping channels. Please check out the links below!

After working so hard getting into the film industry in Toronto, I decided it was time to treat myself to 4 months in SE Asia. That's when I breathed underwater for the very first time. I very quickly realized that my true passion was the underwater world, but most importantly what humans have done to it.

I want to combine my two passions and teach the world what we have done to our oceans, and how we can protect and sustain what we destroyed.
