Cookeville Lacrosse Building Fund

Tax deductible

Hello, I am Greg Varley, and I have the honor of being the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors for the Cookeville (TN) Lacrosse Program.  I am also the parent of a current player, Josh, and a former player, TJ. For 4 years now, I have served on the Board of Directors.

Since 2003, the Cookeville Lacrosse Program has been providing a quality team sport to young athletes here in the Cookeville / Putnam County region.  We do all this with no funding from outside sources.  Our annual player registration fees provide funds to pay for team travel, equipment, game officials, field rental, insurance, league fees, and uniforms, just to name a few things.

As many already know, we have tried to limit our fund raising efforts to one per year, which is our annual Chili Cook-off.  This fund-raiser provides funds for unforeseen expenses that come up every year.

One of the issues the coaching staff has identified is a lack of common stick skills in some of our newer players, so at their recommendation, last year we began seeking a solution to that problem.  The coaches determined that it would prove helpful to have a wall constructed at the high school so that players could use the wall to play wall ball during practices in an effort to develop their stick stills.  So, as a Board, we began looking at the costs for such a project.  At the same time, the conex storage shed we've been using for many years started to leak, presenting yet another problem to explore.

Enter Carl Renegar from Vanhooseco / Envirocast Walls who offered to donate several surplus poured concrete walls in order to construct a building that could serve both as a storage building and a wall ball practice area.  After months of navigating the approval process, we were granted approval to begin construction and are now pleased to report that the building has been completed.

As a Club, we have had to use funds allotted for our 2017 season to pay for the building and we are now seeking YOUR support to replenish our treasury and pay for this building outside of our normal operating budget.

Here is a breakdown of funds we have disbursed to finance this project, and we need your help:

-Additional wall panels to complete the building (above what was donated)  2179.08

-Roof Trusses 324.00

-Concrete/Labor 926.99

-Labor, roofing material, permits, supplies 2100.14

-Garage Door and lighting  591.77

Total Project  6121.98

As most of you know, our coaches and parent volunteers do not receive anything for the countless hours they put into this program to make it what it is.  We do our best to keep our regsitration fees low as to not create a financial burden on anyone.

Now, we need your help to fund this building project.  This building will be around long after our kids have graduated from Cookeville High School and have moved on.  Would you consider being a part of the legacy of Cookeville Lacrosse?  Of course, all donations are tax deductible.

Thank you in advance for your support of Cookeville Lacrosse!
