Compulsion ... A Dark Musical Tale

Compulsion is a daring new one-act musical written by Scott White which will premiere at the Toronto Fringe Festival in July of 2018. The show has recieved writing support from the Ontario Arts Council through recommender grants from Smile Theatre and The Musical Stage Company, and was also the recipient of a Toronto Arts Council writing grant. In December, the piece was named the 1st runner-up in the Tony and Pat Adams Freedom Fund, Paul O'Sullivan Musical Theatre Prize. It is time to take the work from the page to the stage ... and we need your help.
Musical theatre is a costly venture, and Compulsion will feature 6 outstanding musical theatre performers, 3 musicians and a professional creative team including a director, stage manager, set and costume designer and a consultant on stage intimacy and stage combat.
Your donation can help to ensure that the professional artists working on the project are compensated at industry standard wages for the rehearsal and run of this exciting new musical.
Our goal is to raise $10 000 which will provide critical money to pay for set, costume and props design as well as rehearsal space. Box office returns (capped by the Fringe at $11 per ticket to make the festival accessible to all) will allow us to pay out the remainder of expenditures and salaries of the artists.
On a personal level, this is a project that has been many years in the making. A successful showcase at the Toronto Fringe will not only help to further the development of an exciting new piece of musical theatre; it will help to expose the show to producers who can take the material to the next level. This production will also provide vital work and exposure opportunities for 14 professional artists involved in the project.
