Columbia High School Ice Hockey

Donation protected
Varsity Ice Hockey is coming to Columbia High School for the 2017-2018 winter season! After two years of trying , hockey parents have achieved their goal. The South Orange-Maplewood NJ Board of Education has approved our parents' proposal to establish a team in conjunction with with Nutley High School. Both school districts, the Super Essex Conference hockey league, and finally, the NJ high school sports governing body(NJSIAA) have approved the merged team.  (FYI, the picture above is some of our players and coach who jumped up and applauded when our school board approved our hockey team.)

Unlike the skaters from Nutley, players from Maplewood and South Orange must pay for all associated expenses:  ice time, coaches, referees, trainers, equipment, uniforms and transportation. We are looking for $20,000 in contributions to reduce our considerable cost per player and to fund scholarships for those families that cannot afford it.

For decades, hockey players who go to Columbia High School have not been able to represent their school on the ice and have only been able to play for club teams. Many parents whose children want to play high school hockey have been sending them to private prep schools at considerable expense.

Please help make our players' high school hockey dreams a reality!
