College in my Forties Funding

Donation protected

For my 40th birthday, I returned to school to finally get my IT degree, majoring in Software Development. I'm increasingly glad I did, even if it is a lot of work! Now after two years of trying to make a go of it in a tech school and becoming increasingly concerned over the insufficient material being taught, I transfered over to a real school - the University of Wisconsin - Parkside in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The classes are certainly tougher than those I was receiving in the tech school, but ultimately I think the results will be that much better.

I've completed my first semester at my new school and it's clear to me that I need to devote more time to school work. This makes it a bit harder to find income, even as a consultant. I'll still be looking for projects (and/or an on-campus job), but these avenues won't cover all my costs. I have some grants and other funding for tuition costs, but those go straight to the school and don't cover gas, food, or my other day to day costs. (I've even found a great resource for veteran's assistance, but that is paid after I've completed a semester.)

I am documenting my experiences on one of my blogs, College in my Forties. Any donations received will go towards my additional costs beyond tuition and will be greatly appreciated!
