Empowering women in recovery

Rochester, NY has a 90% poverty rate for women who head households with children. Women in recovery from addiction, especially felons, are generally in that high-risk group. Some of those women lost good-paying jobs because of their addiction and/or incarceration and need an opportunity to prove themselves again. The Coffee Connection gives them that opportunity. We work to enhance their experience, education, and help build a career and achieve economic self-sufficiency as they move from intern to employee. Our nonprofit business is staffed by women in the program, not from the outside. We sell fair trade, organic coffee, which we roast ourselves, both wholesale and retail. Our 2 cafes are run by the women. Supporting our current stores, providing educational career support and expanding our wholesale business is our next step.
