Code Orange Benefit Concert

September of 2013 was a time our family will never forget. It began as an ordinary day, Labor day, with an eye appointment for Derrick. He had been having problems seeing. The doctor completed the examination and immediately sent us to the hospital for an MRI for Derrick. Derrick was diagnosed with optic pathway glioma that rested on his optic nerve; we began treatment immediately. In October of the same year, Derrick completely lost is vision. In February of this year, Derrick completed chemotherapy, but is still living with the tumor. Derrick has endured so much but his faith is unwavering. He believes that if he continues to trust in God, he will see again.

Childhood Cancer is very real and affects the lives of children and the loved ones who care for them tremendously. Oftentimes, the treatment received is sickening and very hard on the body. Doctors and nurses work hard to ensure that children are provided the most successful treatment for their cancer type. Research ensures proper treatment and high success rates. CURE Childhood Cancer is dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through funding targeted research and through support of patients and their families.

The 2nd Annual Code Orange Benefit Concert honoring Derrick Chisholm, II and benefiting CURE Childhood Cancer will take place on June 27, 2015 at 6:00 PM at the St. Philip Monumental AME Church.
