Surf and Arts Center in Costa Rica

Hi,
My name is Hannah and my partner's name is Ariel. Ariel is a Tico from the Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo in Costa Rica. We are creating a business in a beach front house in Playa Cocles, Puerto Viejo. If you know Playa Cocles (also known as "Beach Break") you know that it is one of the main surf points in the Costa Rican Caribbean. Puerto Viejo and the neighboring town of Limon sometimes have a bad reputation for being the "unsafe" part of Costa Rica. However, we see something different. We have created a very small scale hostel wedged in between two 4 star hotels. We do not want to become a fancy hotel who only caters to the rich but a place that primarily gives back to the community. We are planning on creating a community center - a gym area, where locals can teach silk dance classes, yoga, theater, and various other classes to the community at an affordable price. We are also going to create local surf tournaments every weekend to encourage and sponsor local young surfers who are often times not noticed by large name companies. We believe our center can encourage younger generations to participate in positive activities and perhaps if even in a small way help people to see the true beauty of the Caribbean!
