My name is Samantha, I'm a recent college grad, working a day job, and freelance as an artist on the side, working towards my dream of doing art as a full time job someday!
Clementine is my sweet, 4 year old, 8lb rabbit. I adopted Clementine about two years ago from my local rabbit rescue - she had spent the beginning of her life as a rescue from tiny barn crammed with over 100 other rabbits in dangerous, unsafe living conditions. It has taken a long time to really get her to come out of her shell, but in the time I've had her, she has become loving, playful and very important to me. I'm continually amazed by how good-natured and affectionate she is, given her not-so-ideal start in life!
Yesterday, I noticed that Clem hasn't been quite herself - she's been a bit sluggish, and doesn't stand up to greet me or beg to be let out to play (she lives in an excercise pen in my bedroom when I'm not home). She has lost her appetite for most things, although she'll still take fresh greens and her favourite treat (banana), but beyond that her lack of eating in very troublesome. For rabbits, even a day of not eating can spell serious trouble.
I want to take Clem to the vet as soon as I can, but between the exorbant vet prices in the city, and my own tight financial situation, I'm not sure how that is going to be possible unless I can get some help. I only recently got a job, so I haven't had a chance to build up an emergency fund yet. It's difficult to know how much I need for her care - general vet appointments run between $60 and $150, but I am asking for a bit more because I imagine that this will cost more than a check up and probably involve further testing and blood work. I am hoping there is nothing SERIOUSLY wrong, and that I won't have to worry about the cost of anything more than that.
If there is anything you are able to do to help, I would GREATLY appreciate it - Clementine is a wonderful bunny who will hopefully still have some happy, healthy years ahead of her. I just want to make sure she has that chance!
