Help me stay in college!

Hello my name is Maia McDonald and I’m 19 years old. I've lived in Chicago, IL all my life and I’m going to be a sophomore at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I’m a broadcast journalism major also considering a minor in Japanese.

I am trying to raise money to fund the rest of my schooling for this year. Financial aid does cover a big part of my school fees but there is a significant portion leftover for my family to pay each semester. Last year we had to pay around $2000 out of pocket a semester. That’s a lot for my family to pay when only my mom and grandmother supporting me and my sister(whose also going through college) My mom just started working again after being unemployed for 2 ½ years. My father left my sister and I when we were just babies so I live with my grandmother whose retirement benefits and social security coupled with what’s left of my mom’s 401(K) is what we’ve been living on. Now I have nearly $7000 to pay out of pocket (plus an additional $3000 in dining fees) and my family just can’t afford to pay it.

I’ve had two friends from college already have to leave school because it was just too expensive. I don’t want that to be me. I want to graduate and become a news reporter. I want to be able to make a difference with my career and to do that I need to make it through school. I’m trying to leave college with the least amount of debt possible, and if you guys were to help me out I’d be able to do that. Please donate so that I can stay in school! No amount is too small!
