The Claddagh Mhor Pipe Band has been asked by the Galway District Promotions, Ireland to play in their 2016 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This is, of course, an amazing opportunity for the band and we are very excited! The opportunity to play in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day… well, that opportunity is likely to come along only once in a band’s history, if at all.
As you might guess, this is an expensive prospect for a 17-member band. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000 to ensure all band members can participate. Local Galway businesses and citizens have negotiated deals on accommodations and transportation in an effort to make the trip more economical. With their help, we have managed to get costs down to just under $16,000, all-in. Even with this discounted price (original estimate was at $25,690), we need some help. This will be the biggest event in the band’s history, so we can’t let it go by without making a good showing! Your donation will help bridge the gap so all 17 members can make the trip.
In the meantime, we have annual engagements throughout the year and some other fundraising events coming up that will help fund the trip, as well. Even so, it just isn’t going to be enough money. We are a 501(c)(3) organization that operates on a minimal yearly budget. All money earned from engagements goes right back into the band to fund our annual expenses of entry fees for competitions, workshop lessons, reeds, drum equipment, and uniform needs. We are allotting as much of the budget to this trip as possible and doing other fundraisers, too: Comics for Kilts, October 24; Going to Galway Pub Crawl, October 3. Your support of arts and culture will help make our band’s dream come true (and, frankly, the dream of any pipe band, given the opportunity).

-Another fun filled evening with lots of laughs at our band headquarters, the Irish Heritage Club at the old St. Dom's church in Portland. This is always a great night! Bring your friends! Tickets are $25 or two for $30. Email us with any questions: [email redacted]
