Since beginning the first step of my transition process in February of 2013 and beginning my medical transition in October of the same year I have come very far. Now I am ready for the next, and most expensive, step of my transition. This is a very important step for me because it affirms who I am on the inside to the outside world. 

I am asking for help, because it is going to be more than we can afford on our own, and is something that is not covered by insurance. I am planning on having my surgery with Dr. Garramone  in Florida because I feel that his results typically have less scarring and dog earing because of his procedure, he is very careful to make sure that his clients chests are symmetrical which leads to a more natural look.

I have created an (estimated) itemized list of expenses: 

Surgery $7,000 -covers surgeon, 90 minutes in the surgery gallery, anesthesiologist, recovery room, etc.
Flights $900 -necessary to get to Florida where my Dr. is located.
Car Rental $400 -needed to get back and fourth from hotel to the pre-op, surgery, post-op visits.
Hotel $1,500 -required 10 day stay in Florida for pre-op and post-op visit.
Gas $200
Food $400 -this is $20 per day, per person, for two people.
Pain meds, antibiotics, scar cream,
tape, gauze, band aids, etc. $70 -some of this could possibly be covered by my insurance, but we're unsure at this time.
Miscellaneous expenses for time off work that
will not be covered due to not working $600 -I will be out of work for 3-4 weeks and my wife will be out of work for 2-3 weeks depending on how well I handle the surgery and am healing. $600 is 1/4 of our monthly bills. We should have some vacation time, but it wont cover the full time we need, we of course are saving for our estimated monthly bills.
