Study Abroad Trip to Thailand

Donation protected

Hello! My name is Christiana Brimmage and I am a second year student at Georgia State University. I have recently been accepted into a study abroad trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand, but I need as much help as possible to get there.
I have lived in Georgia my whole life, and I have never ventured outside the eastern border of the United States. Moving away to college, which was only a 30 minute move, has probably been the most pivotal moment of my life. Since being away at college I have been able to afford the opportunity of learning about myself and growing into my own unique person, but after near 20 years of being in the same state I feel as though my life and progress on my path of self exploration have become stagnant. Therefore, I view this trip to Thailand as not only an amazing opportunity to learn outside the traditional walls of an American classroom, but as a chance to explore the world and see what life has in store for me outside of my comfort zone.
The program I will be participating in is titled "Business in Southeast Asia". The program is 6 weeks long, taking place from May 31st to July 19th. This course will provide me with an understanding and the skill-base needed for informed business profession in South East Asia. The course also addresses the historical trajectories of each major country, and their relations with each other and the wider world in socio-economic aspects. I will also be exploring patterns of industrialization in a comparative perspective, using examples from South East Asian business organizations as an interpretive model. Economic change and its impact upon government, business, ethnic minorities, social classes and individuals will be the main focus of the course. The program alone has a tuition fee of $4,900. But I also need around $1,800 for the international flight, plus extra costs like passport fees and personal expenses come into play. So as you can see, the trip will be costly. I am blessed to be receiving the HOPE scholarship from my school, and to have a loving family that is willing to help me out with my expenses but even then I am still looking at a pretty hefty sum. I am working hard to raise the money myself by saving and selling my artwork, but I definitely need everyone's help!
Any donation of any size will be beyond appreciated, and I thank you so much for helping me to learn, grow, and explore beyond my comfort zone.
