Help Cheyenne

Aaron and Kassie Williams would do anything for their children, and 3-year-old daughter Cheyenne's struggle with seizures has the couple fighting for their daughter's health. Aaron, an employee at GE Aviation and active National Guard member and his wife, Kassie, are residents of the greater Grand Rapids area.

Cheyenne has been suffering from complex partial seizures due to Cortical Dysplasia, an abnormality in the brain.  When Cheyenne was 4 months old, she experienced damaging seizures that were fortunately stopped after two treatments of ACTH, but the extent of the damage is unknown. She continues to suffer from complex partial seizures. Having tried five different anti-seizure medicines, Cheyenne is currently on the 6th and final medicine doctors will try, and her family has to make some big decisions in hopes of giving  Cheyenne a happy and healthy childhood.

The family has two options. One option is to have wires implanted in Cheyenne's brain and a control box in her chest to shoot electrical stimulus into the brain and suppress seizure activity. The neurologist does not recommend this procedure as it will likely be ineffective and is the most invasive. The only other option is to have the seizure activity mapped to determine the damaged part of her brain and attempt surgical removal.  The family has been reassured by Cheyenne's doctors that this is their best option.

This is a scary operation for the family, and while Kassie and Aaron would sacrifice anything for their little girl, there are many costs with receiving this treatment. The family has to spend a week down in Cleveland at the Cleveland Clinic Epilepsy Center while the focal point is being mapped.  After that, they will schedule a time for Cheyenne to come back for the surgery. The length of time needed for surgery and recovery is still unknown. Living away from home and work for the upcoming treatment trips will cause the family financial hardship, but treating Cheyenne is unquestionable.
