Tuition for Nail Technician License

My passion for Nail Art has been growing for about 5 years now.  My amateur skills are to the point where professionals are asking me to come work for them.  (How often does THAT happen?!)

Per Iowa State Law, I need to have a Nail Technician License before I can work in a salon.  This requires taking a course at a Beauty School and passing a state exam.  Despite the job offers, no one has offered to help with tuition costs.  Also, scholarships are not as bountiful for Beauty Schools as other trade schools or ‘normal’ colleges.

The school I have chosen is The Salon Professional Academy   in Iowa City, IA.  Their Nail Tech program has a $2,874 tuition cost, and an additional $964 for a kit and books.  This totals $3,838.  However, if I pay the entire cost of the program on the day of enrollment, they will give a 10% reduction in the tuition cost, making my total $3,551.

My enrollment date is entirely dependent on when I have the funds available and the school's program schedule.  The sooner the funds are available, the sooner I can enroll.

I figured if a guy can raise thousands to make potato salad, maybe I could raise a little to pursue my dream.  Every penny will get me closer to my license.
