Charlie Volunteering in Philippines

Early last year, shortly after the devastating typhoon Haelan which virtually wiped out the city of Tacloban, sweeping way people and their homes, Charlie was so moved that he funded his own accommodation and travelled to the Philippines to volunteer help with reconstruction work as a carpenter/builder.
He used his savings to pay for materials, helping to build or repair homes, putting on roofs, building walls, buying two electric generators which he donated to the local community, and generally helping out wherever he could, including donating all his expensive tools to the community when he left. And when he returned to London, he sent money to pay for a school uniform and a year's schooling for a boy whose mother had no money to pay for his education.
Anxious to return to the Phillipines to continue helping, and still in contact with the many friends he made over there, he worked hard and saved what he could. In January 2015 he went back with his friend Nigel, an electrician, and working side by side, they are doing what they can to build and repair homes. He says things are a bit more organized now, and a lot has been done to improve the situation, but there is still much to be done, with people still living in tents and wrecked homes and unable to work because so many businesses were lost.
Charlie has now been in Tacloban in the Philippines for a month. Here is the link to his Facebook page so you can see what he has been doing. Before he leaves, he would like to be able to help as many poor families as possible, buying them things they need, and paying school fees for as many children as possible and just giving them little things to make their lives better.

Because Charlie is on the spot and in touch with the local people, the money you give will all go directly to the people who need it, and will not be watered down by administrative expenses, advertising and officialdom. BUT IT DOESN'T STOP THERE - ANY MONEY YOU DONATE AFTER HE LEAVES WILL STILL BE USED TO HELP PEOPLE THERE, SUCH AS PAYING SCHOOL FEES AND MEDICAL EXPENSES, BECAUSE HE HAS PERSONAL CONTACTS
