Ford Tough: Charlie's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
If Charlie's not working, then you'll likely find him in the woods. On Saturday, December 16th, 2017, Charlie was on a hunting trip in Marengo County, Alabama. It was a chilly morning. Using the firepit from the night before, Charlie attempted to start a new fire. Unbeknownst to Charlie, embers were present. Fumes from the gas can travelled to the unseen embers resulting in an explosion.
Charlie suffered significant burn trauma ranging from first to third degree burns on his face, hands, and torso. Charlie was lifeflighted to UAB Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment in the ICU Burn Unit. Doctors will begin skin grafting procedures this week. His estimated hospital stay is at least one month.
During this time, Charlie will be unable to work. He and the family appreciate your support and prayers during this time.
Charlie Ford served the City of Montgomery for 22 years. In 2013, he retired as a Fire Lieutenant. Pictured above with Mayor Todd Strange.
