Dearest friends,
I am so excited to tell you that this coming autumn, I am going to be a Church Mobilization Fellow for International Justice Mission in Dominican Republic!
IJM is a nonprofit fighting human trafficking and slavery around the world. The first time that I heard about IJM was back when I was a student at Ashland Theological Seminary. It was there that God started to shape my calling and fill me with passion for the brokenhearted, especially those who are bound by slavery.
While the Dominican Republic is a beautiful country, it has a dark side. Many people have come to this nation searching for better opportunities, but have instead found themselves in more vulnerable positions. Because of this, the country has been emerging as a hot spot for child sex tourism. Without the help of IJM, these targeted teens would have no hope.
As for me, this opportunity is a dream come true! Nevertheless, the position that I have been offered is in fact a volunteer one, which means that I will be responsible for all my costs associated with the assignment. With that said, through this website I am hoping to raise the funds needed to cover the Pre and Post deployment costs: airfares, IJM orientation week, lodging, transportation, meals, visa processing, immunizations, travel insurance for the whole experience, security deposit, home furnishings/set up, deposit for electricity to begin contract, etc. All donations/contributions here are Non-Tax Deductible.
