Solar Power for our camp!

Donation protected
I first brought solar power in 2010 to our camp. Several folks used it to charge their electronics. I'm proud to be bringing larger scale green electrical power derived from our sun in the middle of the desert for frozen margueritas, smoothies, lighting, and better gray water evaporation for our camp at the Black Rock Roller Disco!! You bring the mixers and alcohol, I'll furnish the solar power!! Uses could be limitless.

Look at my facebook page for posts on the adventures of this solar project!! The panels are currently stored in the back yard.

Our generators are often maxed out so there is not any extra electrical power for the rest of the camp. This solar array can fill in much of that gap. It would be nice if some day this solar installation would allow one or both generators to sit in silence so we don't have to hear or smell them running 24/7 or even reduce our fuel costs of 100-150 gallons of gas.

The solar panels are mounted with well enginineered mounting brackets and support poles so the wind will not affect them. I will be using a tiny portion of the solar array to charge my bicycle. Below is the list of solar components that I have already purchased in the past few  weeks that are being packed and readied for the trek into the desert.

$500 - 4000 watt inverter (Used. Repaired and tested. $4300 new.
$60 - Solar rated 10 gauge wire, 100 ft.
$40 - 20 pairs of mc4 connectors.
$672 - Midnite Classic 200 mppt charge controller, 3 breakers.
$150 - Connectors and crimp tool.
$1600 - Ten 215 watt solar panels.
$50 - Mounting brackets.
$200 - Mounting poles
Free - All of my labor and fuel to get everything to our camp.

$3272 Sub total

Puchases to be made in the next few days:
$300 power distribution panel.
$400 deep cycle batteries. Need to spend more on batteries, but I just don't have the funds. Currently trying to rent a fork lift battery.

We are looking at a total of $3872.

The panels will be mounted to my travel trailer up high enough to not be a hazard.
