Catherine Zanga Family Fund

Donation protected
My friend of 10 years Catherine Zanga, a stage four ovarian cancer warrior lost her battle on November 21st after 21 months of fighting at the young age of 41 . She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Hyong and two small beautiful children Anna (9) and Alex (6). Please help this family in need with remaining medical, funeral, and child care expenses. Any amount would be much appreciated and for the month of December (although donations beyond this month will be gratefully accepted), I'm donating $1 for every $5 donation up to $5,000 in contributions. Show your support and love for this family over the holidays and beyond.  If you don't personally know Catherine, here is her story (extrapolated from Catherine's obituary written by her husband)...

Catherine was born to Joseph and Christine Zanga in Richmond, Virginia March 11, 1973. She went to Freeman High School in Henrico County, VA. She continued her studies at the University of Virginia, where she was as an Echols Scholar, and captaining the UVA fencing team. After graduating with a BA in Political and Social Thought, she attended UVA Law School. After graduating, she moved to Washington, DC where she worked as a private sector attorney. During this time, she met the love of her life, Hyong Yi of Amish Country, Pennsylvania. After their long distance courtship, she accepted his marriage proposal on a Tidal Basin bench by the Jefferson Memorial late one night. Beginning a career in public service, she took a pay cut to work for the United States Office of Special Counsel. Wanting to be more hands on, she took another pay cut to work as an Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in Fairfax County, VA. Deciding that a further paycut was in order, she moved with her husband to Charlotte, North Carolina. Here, she produced her best work - having first daughter Anna and then son Alex three years later. She also passed the North Carolina State Bar Exam while nine months pregnant, receiving the letter she passed the bar on the same day as the birth of daughter Anna. As a professional in Charlotte, she worked as an Assistant DA specializing in domestic violence in Gaston County and as a Police Attorney for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD while raising two kids and a husband. She did service through the Junior League of Charlotte and attended St. Peter's Catholic Church in Charlotte. She loved science fiction, had ambition to travel the world, and sought justice for the meek and weak in this world. But most importantly, she loved her family and life.
