Jambo!
WHO: I’m Catherine, a recent graduate in London trying to get my footing in this ever-changing world. I will be volunteering in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania this January with Cross-Cultural Solutions (CCS) and I need your help!
WHAT: With the help of the other volunteers in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania I will be improving the chances the local children will have at advancing to secondary school. In Tanzania, the students are educated in Swahili, though for them to continue their education they must be proficient in English. English is casually taught in schools, just as most American students learn French and Spanish. Imagine if your life depended upon you learning a second language. You’d want a native speaker to help you, right?
WHY: I'm choosing to volunteer in Tanzania with CCS because I believe in sustainable volunteering. I will be working with the community to understand their needs as well as assisting the local schools with educational development. Understanding areas where the community and schools may be lacking resources is where I and my colleagues will be able to better their standard of living.
WHEN & WHERE: January 2015 for one month; Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
HOW TO HELP: I will need to pay out-of-pocket for some pricy expenses. My programme fee includes my basic necessities, though it does not include my visa, Carrying on Temporary Assigment (CTA) work authorisation stamp, and flights.
Any contribution made, no matter how great or small, will be greatly appreciated.
