Catalina Triple Crossing

Hello everyone, Im Robert Palmese, and I am super excited you found your way across my gofundme!
I am an open water swimmer in San Diego, California. This summer I will be taking a crack at a record swim in the Catalina Channel.
Many of you have probably heard of people swimming the Engish Channel put probably never heard of it's sister channel, Catalina! Last summer I was the 324th person to ever cross the Catalina Channel. This summer I am making an attempt at the first ever triple crossing of the channel. Covering over 60 miles, I expect to spend roughly 36 hours in the water. Under traditional channel swimming rules, I am only allowed to wear a speedo, a cap and goggles during the swim. I am not allowed to touch anything or have any sort of buoyancy aid.
I get alot of questions like: How can it be possible? Why? Who else has done this?
The answers are simple!
It is possible. In Summer 2015, the first triple crossing in 25 years of the English Channel was completed.
But why? In marathon swimming and more specifically, epic swims like this, representing your country is a major factor. Many countries compete to lay claim to be the first to do "it" ...whatever "it" is! By completing this swim, I will be the first American to do a triple crossing of any channel while claiming the USA's title as first triple crossing of the Catalina Channel!
As a current college student/athelte, funds are tight and unfortunately this sport is NOT cheap! The 8,000 will cover the cost of the pilot boat, federation fees for official observers, and any other cost occured while the swim approaches.
Any residual funds will be donated directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, my charity of choice to raise funds for during this swim!
