Welcome to the world of open-water swimming, where we, six 14 year old girls, are attempting to swim the Catalina Channel as a relay that will take us through the night of August 23rd. At 21 miles in length and a 9 hour finish time goal, we know that this is going to be a challenging night. However, with the help of Carol Sing, 10 time Catalina Channel swimmer, and Kevin Eslinger, swim coach and world-record holder for paddle-boarding, we know we will be in the right hands. Their experience and wise coaching has brought us from competitive age group swimmers to ocean swimming machines. With the support and guidance of Carol and Kevin, we will quickly master the ups and downs of open water swimming. Not only will the completion of this swim take our swimming experience to a whole new level, it will give us girls the opportunity to hold a world record. With our determination and hard work, we will set a record as the youngest, all female relay team to successfully swim the Catalina Channel.
Now, we need your help to sail us through the night. Our fundraising goal is to raise $5,000, with half the money due before August 1st, and only you can get us there. Even the smallest donation counts, and a percentage of each contribution will be donated to Heartland Swim Association, the non profit swim team that has nurtured and encouraged our love of the sport.
