Services for Carlos N. Ortez, Sr.

We suddenly lost a very kind, caring, funny, loving soul. Clearly we were not prepared for my Father's passing, and in this hard time of grief and sorrow for our family, we are looking to raise money for his services. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Carlos N. Ortez, Sr. was born on January 1st, 1954 in Honduras and came to the United States alone at the young age of 13 to work and build a better life for his family and himself. He found an eternal love in my Mother, Milagros Aviles and gave me the greatest gift, the gift of life in 1979. My parents did the same for my beautiful sister, Tania Ortez Ojeda in 1985.

He had a passion for cars and worked as Mechanic for over 35 years. If it was broke, the man could fix it. Boats, cars, fire engine trucks, semi's, you name it. He was a diligent man who worked very hard and everything was for his family. He saved and brought over his siblings from Honduras to New York. My aunt Roses Bonilla, and his brothers, Armando "Mandin" Ortez, and Freddy, his stepbrother.  Once my uncle passed in 1989, my father dedicated much of his time helping people who suffered from alcoholism, founded, ran several AA groups and also assited in opening sober houses, including Casa Esperanza, or House of Hope in Boston, MA.

My father was a disciplined man. He enlisted in the Army twice in the 10th Mountain Division. He was diligent, hard working, and loved what he did for work. He cared immensely for those around and close to him, and even more for those whom he helped throughout the years.

He loved being a father and his love for my sister and me was unconditional. He felt the same being an uncle to his nieces, Belinda Bonilla, and Maria Bonilla Ortiz. He loved my nephew AJ very much, and was enamored with his 2 grandchildren from my sister, Moses and Abel Ojeda. He also had a very large place in his heart for my fiance, Heather Buchholz. They shared many long talks and laughs over the years and her love for him was the same. He was her father too, often referring to her as his own daughter. "Daughter 2".

He was planning to move in a few weeks to Tampa, Fl to live and be with my mother, sister, and nephews. His untimely passing has left us devastated and with a huge void in our lives and our hearts.

We appreciate all of your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly helpful as we were not ready for this. I don't think anyone ever really can be.

We love you very much Dad, and we will miss you dearly. I have no words for the hole in my heart but thank you for everything you ever did for us, and everything you ever taught us. You were a wonderful father, and an exceptional human being. May you rest in peace.

Thank you in advance everyone. We will notify everybody once we have arranged his services.

Sincerely,
Carlos N. Ortez, Jr.
