Participate in our workshops taught by Capoeira Mestres visiting Colorado, meet new students, learn new moves, songs and music. We offer workshops for all levels, from kids to adults, beginners to advanced capoeiristas.

Capoeira Canavial is a group located in Fort Collins and Boulder. A Brazilian martial art, Capoeira is graceful and powerful, playful and fierce. Combining aspects of acrobatics, dance, and music, it can provide both self-defense capability and entertainment. Capoeira involves participants singing in Portuguese, clapping, playing instruments in a circle while two participants spar each other in a game of improvised attack and escape.



Why Support Us On GoFundMe? The purpose of our Gofundme campaign is to organize this yearly cultural event, called a Batizado, that will showcase the beauty of Capoeira and honor the contributions our members have made to preserve our art. A Batizado is Capoeira's culminating event in which Capoeiristas gather to formally introduce new students to the Capoeira community and honor those who have dedicated themselves to the art.

Our groups consists of members that range in age start at 4 years old to any age. We are all bound by our common love of Capoeira and being able to have a Batizado and celebrate our art and our growth will only strengthen these ties!

Why We Need Your Support: We are requesting your help to fund the costs associated with organizing this year's event. The funding that we are requesting will go towards:

Space "“ In order to offer a cultural event for our community we would like to organize this Batizado in an open space to allow participation and visibility in the Fort Collins Community.

Photography "“ Batizados are special events for our group members, their families, and capoeira itself. Hiring a photographer will ensure we are able to memorialize this cultural event.

Travel Costs - We will be assisting with travel and lodging arrangements for high ranking Capoeiristas (Mestres, Professors, Instructors and Graduados) from California, Arizona, Texas and Colorado to represent our art form.

Food - As is customary at a Batizado, we will provide light refreshments for Mestres, Professores, Instrutores and Graduados who are coming in from out of town.

Extra Stuff "“ Your donation will also help keeping the event affordable by off setting the cost of Shirts, cords (capoeira belts), instruments, etc. for the event.
