Cell Phone vs. Camera Experiment

I am Amber Robbins, an aspiring photographer.  I am traveling to New York City to take pictures of famous landmarks.  I'd like to create a book that compares the difference between pictures taken with a camera phone and pictures taken with a Digital SLR. 

I'd like to find out which way is better suited for taking pictures in a touristy environment.  I am also applying for a local high school program called Commonwealth Gorvernor's School.  I need three projects completed to apply, and contributing to this will help me get there.

I will be driving to NYC with my dad.  We'll walk around the city, taking pictures of all of the famous landmarks just like other tourists would.  I will use two cameras: an iPhone 4 and a Pentax *ist.

Opstacles/Challenges

Ostacles will include transportation, time, weather, and funding.  I will need to find a way to take all of the pictures needed in a short period of time.  I'll need to pay for lodging in the city and also for public transportation in the city.  Below is an estimated list of the costs:
