An opportunity has come up for us to expand the seating area in our little veggie cafe in Canterbury. If we raise enough funds we will knock through into next door and create a lot more space for you, our awesome customers!
We will make the space more comfortable and family friendly, and have enough room to go back to using crockery (rather than the compostable trays/pots/cups we use now) by putting in a professional washing up area. Our current kitchen is too tiny to safely wash the scale of crockery we need. I know this and the lack of seats have been an issue for many of you since we moved to Burgate two years ago and this expansion should solve both of those issues. But we need your help!
For our little business to survive, it needs to grow. Knocking through into next door will obviously not be cheap. We are already in considerable debt from our previous move and we would rather not borrow money this time if possible. We would use your donations to pay for:
- any planning permission and architectural fees we may need
- knocking down the partition wall between the cafe and next door
- new flooring to match up with our current floor
- furniture (tables, chairs, high chairs, shelves etc)
- painting & decorating
- crockery & cutlery
- a professional washing up area
- solicitors fees to set up the new contract
- the rent, rates and wages while we are in refurb-mode
We hope to start work on this exciting expansion in Spring 2018. Your support means so much to us! As most of you know, The Veg Box Cafe is an independent, family run business. We promise to continue to be an ethical business. We will continue to use local and organic produce, reduce our waste and provide you with delicious, plant-based food!
